I don't know that I agree with this statement. An acquisition generally does not occur at market, therefore the premium paid would reflect a higher P/E. Recall TER has traded close to 70 with P/E's in the high 30's. In addition, even if the transaction would be accretive based upon historical earnings, IMO their are many unanswered questions regarding product line and customer satisfaction which go to future earnings.

The lows of a few years ago when the company grew out of favor was 12 to 13, hit by both earnings and PE compression. No one can say we will see that again, but that was the result of just industry specific and not company specific problems.
