GM strike was a clear effort of GM to get productivity higher on their Flint plant if I am right--stamping plant they got it-- if you closely look at the agreement they also got no strike pledge at four of their plants and no strike pledge at Dayton Ohio plant until 2000 this is the plant that supplies most components to other plants that most of the GM model needs- this now ties UAW not ot be able to take GM to standstill. In return UAW got investment of 18 million $ at Flint and not to sell Delphi east and a 4 th July holiday-- but on Friday we will see the GDP lower may be flat for second quarter-- however this strike caused a slow down of 1% In 8 trillion $ GDP of US-- so with all guns moving now after a settlement is that growth will be shifted to third and fourth quarter in GDP --the traditionally weak quarters may not be so weak--this needs a little more explanation---
