Beautiful testimony, praises and glory to God for his mercy. What an awesome God we have! Thank you Lord for your precious son Bob who was sensitive enough to your Holy Spirit to meet the needs of Steve for his salvation.

After experiencing that beautiful testimony, I have the somewhat unpleasant task to take us back to certain points of misunderstanding.

Steve, you quoted Bob as saying:
"If I could prove to you using only the Old Testament that you need God's grace to be saved and that the Old Testament Messiah has been come in Christ, will you believe me?"

When Bob told you the Old Testament Messiah has been come in Christ, will you believe me?", he was giving you the Gospel from the New Testament. The New Testament is simply the good news that God sent Jesus as the Messiah.
How could you have known that the Old Testament prophecies were fulfilled without hearing that Jesus had fulfilled them? Bob simply used a very creative Holy Spirit inspired way to present the Gospel to you, but it was still the simple New TEstament Gospel.

But was I surprised. Through intensive study of the Old Testament only, and through hundreds of verses of scripture, he proved to me that,

1. I was a sinner. (That one was easy! Still is!)
2. I was seperated from God because of sin.
3. That only by the grace of God I could be saved!
4. And Jesus fulfilled all of the Old Testament prophecy about the promised Messiah.

When Bob proved to you that "Jesus fulfilled all of the Old Testament prophecy about the promised Messiah., he was in fact using the knowledge from the New Testament to tell you that.

Without the New Testament knowledge that Jesus Christ was the Messiah of Israel that came to redeem man from their sins, the Old Testament is a dead book without fulfillment. The only way to get the knowledge that Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament prophecies is through the New Tesatament and the preaching of the Gospel. The Holy Spirit can always give someone a direct revelation.

This is not to distract from your beautiful testimonty or to downplay your understanding of the event. It is simply to establish a correct understanding about salvation.

Praise God for his wonderful mercy towards you and all our brothers and sisters.

Thank you for sharing it

In the love of Christ
