Emile (from Bob), I want to comment on several of the points you made in this response to Steve. <<Bob simply used a very creative Holy Spirit inspired way to present the Gospel to you, but it was still the simple New TEstament Gospel.>> 1. You have a tendency of putting the house beneath the foundation. The simple New Testament Gospel you refer to is actually the simple Old Testament Gospel. The OT is first, while there were Levitical Laws in place, it was fully understood in the OT by the big guns (David, Job, Jacob ...etc) that they were sinners who were saved by faith in their Redeemer (We happen to know the Name of the Redeemer now) and not by their adherence to the Law. <<When Bob proved to you that "Jesus fulfilled all of the Old Testament prophecy about the promised Messiah., he was in fact using the knowledge from the New Testament to tell you that.>> 2. The NT is not the only vehicle to 'prove' that Jesus is the Messiah. The OT tells us that the Messiah had to come at a particular point in time, live a certain life and die a certain way. My mission to the Jews is to illustrate the OT Messianic prophecies and ask the question, who came before 70 AD that could have fulfilled all the OT Messianic Prophecies. The New Testament is not needed to prove that Jesus Christ is the Messiah. If the NT is needed to prove that Jesus is the Messiah, THEN HE IS NOT. When I spoke to Steve and when I speak to any Jewish person about the Messiah, I only use OT prophecies and let history speak for itself to bring them to faith in Christ. If they wish to delve into the NT I'm glad to, but I certainly don't need a word of the NT to prove that the Messiah has come. The NT simply tells us His Name. <<Without the New Testament knowledge that Jesus Christ was the Messiah of Israel that came to redeem man from their sins, the Old Testament is a dead book without fulfillment.>> 3. The OT a dead book before Christ? That's what you're saying here. I don't believe David, Nehemiah, Moses, Isaiah ... etc thought so. I surely hope you don't think so. Let me rephrase that, you're saying if Christ hadn't come yet, the Old Testament is a dead book simply because it hadn't been fulfilled. Let me explain a very basic concept, it is not the fulfillment of God's Word that makes it alive, it is the simple fact that IT IS GOD'S WORD. In His love, Bob
