What will happen when Katmai comes out and KNI has overlapping opcodes with 3D-NOW? Please feel free to speculate wildly.

Bob,

In order for software to function correctly in that environment, it will have to detect the processor type, and issue the correct instruction stream for that CPU.

This will require robust OS drivers, application code, and graphics hardware drivers to function properly. If it is true that Katmai opcodes will overlap, chances are that some existing 3D-NOW software will blow up on Katmai.
