In a continuing sign of industry woes, Siemens announced closing of the Tyneside UK plant today. This fab was just brought on line late last year. It has interesting implications for the SEH wafer foundry nearby in Livingstone. This was built to supply some Siemens demand and also to supply INTC in Ireland. If they reduce production or close down, then that should help cut excess capacity - which is good news for our guys.
