<<No need to own two box-makers...>>
A big misconception. Cpq is a lot more than a box maker.

Thanks for the chart, Sig. That is very telling indeed. Makes a case for sticking with the big D, it seems, though I do have some CPQ.

My reading on CPQ. They are looking ahead to IBM and not back at DELL. Their DEC move makes them a strong player in the services (with servers) market and they intend to take a share of that growing market, where they feel IBM is vulnerable to competition.

I believe that they will do well there.

I believe that CPQ is a 12 to 24 month play with still time to jump on the bandwagon (maybe another 6 months or so). I don't see a pop from DEC until then. In the meantime, I expect that they will languish in the PC world. And why in the world do they intend to open 4,000 retail computer boutiques for? EGAD!

Also in the meantime, I expect DELL to leverage its service/reliability reputation to continue increasing its market share in the PC world and to (hopefully) make rational marketing decisions in its delivery of offsite storage, server and workstation products. Marketing those may require getting off the phone and into the field to deliver services with their products.

I think they can do it.

What do you think?
