Recent Press Releases for Altron

Creditman, here's the news you were referring to:

Altron Inc. To Buy Some Hewlett-Packard Equipment
Dow Jones Newswires -- July 31, 1998

WILMINGTON, Mass. (Dow Jones)--Altron Inc. (ALRN) agreed to
acquire the printed circuit assembly and backplane assembly equipment of Hewlett-Packard Co.'s (HWP) Richardson, Texas, plant.

Financial terms weren't disclosed.

In a press release Friday, Altron said the acquisition is scheduled to close on Sept. 1.

Altron plans to build a 30,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in the
Dallas area for new product introduction and production services for
printed circuit assembly, backplane assembly and systems integration.

The company expects the plant to begin operating in the fourth quarter. Altron didn't disclose the expected cost of the plant.

The company plans to hire manufacturing personnel from
Hewlett-Packard's Richardson facility to support its Texas operation.

Altron manufactures interconnect products used in advanced electronic
equipment.

Altron Exec Says Margins Won't Improve In Short Term

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Altron Inc.'s (ALRN) chairman and president
said Tuesday that the company's margins will not improve in the short-term.

According to a Federal Filings news story, Samuel Altschuler said at the BancAmerica Robertson Stephens' Electronic Manufacturing Products and Services Conference that the company will improve its margins over the long term, but it is still paying for recent capacity.

Shares of Altron, which designs and makes electronic systems, were down Tuesday, but it was unclear if the stock was reacting to Altschuler's remarks or following the general market, which is posting sharp declines. One analyst interviewed said Altschuler was only reiterating the warning and the stock probably was moving with the market.

The highly competitive price environment also will hurt the company,
Altschuler said during the conference. The company also expects to devote more energy to acquisitions, according to the Federal Filings story.

Altron officials couldn't immediately be reached for comment.

Shares of Altron were trading at 13, down 5/16, or 2.3%, on Nasdaq
volume of 94,000 shares, compared with average daily volume of 109,815.

Hey Mark, you seem pretty knowledgeable on the ECM sector if anyone is. Could you help me straighten out the players in my own mind? How about a quick list of the players, their major customers, and how diversified they are (i.e. dependance on a single industry or customer).

Thanks, I appreciate it,

Carl
