Pallisard: Though I cannot answer all your questions let me pull up the brain cells I used in undergraduate chemistry. Hmmmm....if I recall correctly Lithium is the third most abundant substance in the Universe, after hydrogen and helium. Hence it's chemical number, 3. However, like aluminum, it doesn't exist in its pure form. It must be refined. How much it takes per laminated cell I cannot say, but review the URL's below. They might help with your other questions:

That's it in a 3 minute nutshell. If you use some of the more reliable search engines out there I'm sure you can work up an industry list of lithium mining/refining organizations. Your queries are good, as it can provide you with some tangentially related plays me thinks.
