Alan:

If you are a "full time scalper", then I assume that you make 3 to 10+ trades per day. As such, I would recommend you move your account to a company that caters to active full-time traders. Castle Securities, MB Trading, AB Watley and CyberTrader will all serve your needs well.

With an account at one of these firms, you will be able to execute orders using SOES and SelectNet, as well as the ECN's. After a little time and experience, you will learn which method of order execution works best for you at different times. For a 'full time' trader, there is no substitute for a good online trading firm. A position trader, on the other hand, will likely be much BETTER off with a discount firm such as Brown and Company.

P.S. Brown and Company was my broker as well, prior to moving my account to Castle. I did not have any complaints with them, except for trading Nasdaq stocks with large spreads. => Too expensive to give up a 1/2 point spread on a $10 stock (5% loss!).

TraderAlan,

Your problem sounds serious. I appreciate that you have been staisfied with Brown for several years, but as a self-described "full-timer" I cannot imagine that it is not worth it to get a Watley/MBT style set-up. I just can't imagine someone trying to make their living trading and not giving themselves the tools.
