Thanks for posting, Mixtliman, we need people like you to keep us from getting to Euphoric as the stock doubles for us. Are you by any chance a Peoplesoft sales rep?

Having managed 30+ SAP projects i wouldn't say R/3 is technically poor and inflexible. It can be -and has been- adjusted to a whole lot of different industries.
But i agree that the market is somewhat limited (but not only to fortune 500 companies). It takes a lot of human resources to get this "gorilla" going - and keep it going. Makes only sense for bigger (100 mil. $+ sales) companies. But there are thousands out there...

How high can it go? No idea, i got all my stock in the early 90s and i only check it once a year or so. PE is rich, but who cares ?

Certainly a remarkable company. Working for them was fun. As long as Hopp rules, things will be good.

"and it now has to compete on a US exchange, responding to smart investors and using a US accounting model"

That's a very pompous and attitude you display : to suggest that foreign / European exchanges and securities markets do not provide
'competition' is ludicrous. And what do you mean by "smart investors"? Are you referring to WS? If you read the Economist article you will see that " Two years ago SAP stock took a 35% hit when four major contracts were delayed." Seems to me that the stock responded to the unsophisticated European investors then. There were also allegations of insider trading then which is not mentioned in the article....but that was THE time to get into SAP...and I guess Ibexx did!

If you read the related article:
economist.com
you will realize that reengineering the business model prior to and in tandem with implementation is very important..just plugging in SAP isn't going to guarantee profits...management still has to Think!
