Slick--so nice of you to return and fill our empty minds with your wisdom. I was simply unaware that "chill winds" would "cometh".

"I predict that stock price will plunge yet again and may only recover in 2000 or so. Last month I predicted it would not recover this year's high. Too much doubt, concern and negativism over the fate of large satellite nets, the Zenit, the impending meteor shower, Asia, global demand, and the race against the clock of mounting debt. The question for me was simply this: can I tolerate that level of pain? The answer was plain."

Pain? What pain has a Loral investor suffered? The pain of a 30.32% return in 1998? Ouch! That smarts! The price will plunge again and not recover until 2000? Please pass the crack.

What will we have in the year 2000? To add to Skynet's Telstar 4 and 5, we get Telstar 6,7,8,9 &10. SatMex will add SatMex 5 to Solidaridad 1 & 2. Orion goes from Orion 1 only , to a 3 sat constellation with the addition of Orion 2 & 3. Cyberstar will be in full swing with its Ku-transponders on Telstar 5 and new Ka transponders on Telstar 8. We should see Loral owning a piece of New Skies, adding 6 more birds to the fleet. UCOM has said they will sell L-Star, so slip them in somewhere at a firesale price. Europe*Star should have launched there first sat by then. G* will be in full swing, growing at a phenomenal rate. By that time Loral will own over 50%. As I look at all this, you are correct Slick. No additional value. Forget any deals with Primestar or Echostar--why bother? GEOs providing phone service to whole countries at pennies per minute? Forget it--too much "chill wind".

Your informed commentary has once again opened my eyes to what a painful mistake I have made. Shame on me.

<<The anxiety level surrounding the entire sector, not to mention the market as a whole, is extraordinary!>>

Hmmm; is that opportunity I smell cooking? Soup's on! ; )

Humm:

''... meteor showers, Asia, global demand, and the race
againstthe clock of mounting debt.'' You forgot to
mention that the year 2000 is just around the corner and
that the end of the world is coming.

Should we shave our heads and place ash on our foreheads
to atone for our sins, or is holding LOR enough
punishment?

I just want to throw in my two cents to say that I couldn't disagree more. I respect your opinion, but I just don't agree. I think that there are a lot of exciting things happening, or are about to happen with LOR. Those have been adequately voiced by Valueman. The fall in price is attributable to "Chinagate" and/or anticipation over the Zenit. Chinagate is a lot of hot air, and it will pass. The Zenit launches are worthy of concern, and in the worst case, there will be short term pain. Given the worst case Zenit failure, however, there is a credible backup that will have G* up and running with minimal schedule impact. So, I personally don't worry about the possible share price impacts, and others shouldn't either if they are in for the long haul.

Iridium (price weakness) is another matter. I personally don't see a connection in the two prices slipping.
Maybe I'm wrong about that, but it happens to be my opinion. I will get flamed for saying this, but if I was a I* share holder, I'd be concerned. They are what 7 weeks away from their moment in the sun. There stock should be soaring. Maybe their problems are more perceived than real, but the apparent perception does not reflect a lot of confidence. A year from now we will have a much better picture, of coarse, but that is part of what makes investing so exciting!

Kind Regards,

Mr A
