Tradestation is mostly a charting and system testing program. The benefit is you can design whatever you want or need to trade. The disadvantage is it costs about $2k, but if you are going to trade futures, it's worth the time, effort and cost. In the long run, it's pretty cheap.
I've tried a lot of software packages that crank out recommendations mechanically, and I caution you that they don't work, or at least that's my experience.
If you want an inexpensive end of day data program, you might take a look at Metastock or AIQ Trading Expert. They're both good.
