A new internet standard called "Open Profiling Standard" or OPS will appear in
browsers soon. What this standard does is to provide a standard way to store users
information, such as name, address(es), phone numbers, e-mail addresses, credit card
numbers, etc. and present these to various sites under user control. The user can, for
instance, just submit their basic information but not their phone numbers or credit card
info. And vendors can request that additional information be provided, such as browsing
and purchasing preferences.

Rob,

I like this very much and it makes sense. The Mac has a utility one can buy that will type programmed information with a mouse click. This is a third party concept but one I use so I do not need to type the charge card number, address, etc. over and over.

>>Who should speculators believe? Amazon's management and industry experts or their own wishful thinking?

Being long Amazon is just as intellectually and emotionally challenging as being short. Holding either position is hard work. Wishful thinking is the last practice anyone wants to rely on, and your contention that to disregard your summary of what Amazon or industry experts are saying means that we are therefore involved in wishful thinking is shallow and cynical.

When you can point to any real trouble in Amazon's execution, and we longs disregard it, then tell us we are wishful thinkers.

>In fact, most people will go to different site to make price comparison before buying.<

Another reason people may buy from different site will be the consideration of privacy. If one frequent book buyer buys all books from Amazon, by analysing the buying pattern, Amazon can get significant amount of information about the buyer.
