The international gun death statistics were recently released for 1994. As you can see from the chart I have attached, the gun deaths per capita in Switzerland are actually relatively high, almost as high as in Northern Ireland, which was very much at war in 1994, and had a heavily armed populace divided into two polarized camps actually trying to kill each other. As you can see from this list, the countries where people do not carry handguns and there is no culture of guns, were at the bottom of the list. Interestingly, Japan and Great Britain have recently tightened their rules on handguns even further.
