>>I love discussing issues with you, because you are almost always wrong!! What fun

Christine, I guess I should love you even more for the same reasons. You must look at the totality of gun-related crimes, not just gun-related deaths. Furthermore, we all know that guns are inanimate instruments and kill no one, they require an actor to do the killing. But liberals are always off focus and try to punish the innocent and the inanimate as a diversion from punishing the criminal.

Did you know that many more people in the US are murdered with knives than with guns? Should we ban knives? I suspect that Great Britain et al have an even higher incidence of knife-murders since the government denies its subjects access to guns.

And why did you leave Singapore off your list? That is probably the safest place on Earth, except of course there is little freedom from the authoritarian government and its harsh laws.

Returning to the US, you still cannot dispute with any authority that study from the University of Chicago that proves that gun control in the US causes more deaths of innocent people than it saves. Liberals and their "solutions" once again causing more harm than the original problem.

>>"Gun-related deaths per 100,000 people in selected countries in 1994
United States 14.24"<<

I was very disappointed with that number Christine.....I was hoping it would be much higher. The majority of murders committed here in the Northeast involve criminals killing criminals with guns. I love picking up the paper and reading "drug dealer A shoots drug dealer B, drug dealer C shoots drug dealer A and drug dealer D shoots drug dealer C. It warms my heart to see them kill each other. The cops like it too. For some unknown reason they rarely solve these murder cases. They let "nature" take its course. The more killings that take place means a better and safer country for the rest of us.

Jim

Christine, have you taken a look at the U.S. death statistics per state in relation to gun ownership per capita?

I'll be willing to bet that Colorado has a lower per-capita death rate than Los Angeles due to guns?

Where do you figure it's easiest to buy a gun. hmmmmmm. :-)

The point is that gun murders happen for a variety of reasons. Ownership being only one of the causes.

Michael

p.s. And remember, figures don't lye, but lyers figure....:-)

God bless Mr. Smith, Mr. Wesson, Mr. Colt, Mr. Winchester, Mr. Savage, and Mr. Remington. True patriots and honorable men who loved freedom and the American way. If it were not for these great men we would still have arrows flying through our windows while driving across Arizona in our Volvos.
