>>From Barons's Charting the Market

MOT:

The company's Multimedia Group has shipped more than 170,000 Cyber Surfr cable
modems in the last seven months, surpassing the 80,000 units shipped in 1997, and
giving it about 60% of a growing market.

1) Barron's has been wrong more times than I can count.
I read them just to see the different viewpoints.

2) At 170K units == 60%, this just proves my point. The
market is miniscule...meaningless at the moment. TCI's
contract with 3Com is more significant. But, the bottom
line is that there aren't nearly enough demand, because
of non-universal coverage, expensive, and teleco's have
to put in lots of $$ to build infrastructure,etc....

xDSL and Cable will probably happen, so hold your breath
waiting this year.
