Lots of hand ringing and worry... Anybody feel like talking about real issues? I got my Portico install pack on Saturday. Haven't installed it as I was doing other things, but I've looked through the literature. First opinion is, it looks good. Good style, direct and well written and the look is slick and professional. It's no techno geek stuff. It's coming in a package about the size of a book. The pack could do very well selling on a store shelf. I wish I had more time to get into it, but I'm going to Europe tomorrow for 3 weeks. In the end, I think from what I've seen, Portico is good, timely and they have marketing style. They will get their chance to win with Portico. Questions will continue to arise and of course the market is not an indicator of where GM will be in 2 years. I've talked to a lot of people involved with SR and telephony and this market is hot. The time savings and functionality pay back is great and the technology is maturing quickly. This is no pie in the sky. We should see a flood of new applications for call centers, information delivery and auto attendants. GM won't have the market for virtual assistants as their private domain, but they clearly have a good lead for a high end system and they have a eloquent style which I think will be easy for normal people to accept. Patents in Natural Language Dialog Systems techniques will make Portico a defendable product catagory. As Richard DiPietro from Lucent said, everybody wants to get these "Fat Sticky Services" up and running to boost air time as competitive pricing in cell phones can only work as long as you can sell more product, or air time. I really believe I'll rewarded with this investment. I've added to my shares. Anyway, putting this wall of worry aside, am I the only one to have gotten my Portico Installation pack? Why is there no comment on the product as it's now getting into our hands? Regards, Mark
