Dale and Intel Investors - HP Introduces $799 Celeron PCs.

All of the media Pundits can drop their "Intel has no CPU for the sub $1000 PC market ".

The recent drop of Celeron 266 prices to $86 or less is going to deal some real damage to AMD.

Company Press Release

New "Subcompact" HP Brio PCs Deliver Leading Business
Technology At a Groundbreaking $799

PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 3, 1998--Hewlett-Packard Company today announced a line of high-powered HP Brio business PCs featuring cutting-edge technology and full-featuredconfigurations. Based on Intel's current Celeron(TM) processor technology, the line also will feature future Celeron processor speeds when they are introduced. The new PCs, available today, are expected to start at street prices as low as $799 (U.S.)(1).

The new HP Brio 7000 PC series debuts an industry-first subcompact, ''microtower,'' design. The unit stands no higher than a standard office binder -- just about half the size of a typical tower-style
PC. These sleek, space-saving models are exceptionally quiet and small enough to be placed either on a desk or below without sacrificing system expandability or performance.

New to the HP Brio 8000 PC series are powerful features, including the industry's fastest ReWriteable CD-ROM drive, which offers the convenience of high-capacity, industry-standard storage combined with ultra-high-speed data access. Also debuting on the HP Brio 8000 PC is a 10.1GB Ultra-ATA 7200rpm hard-disk drive.

Customers can choose HP Brio 7000 series PCs from a range of Intel Celeron and
Pentium(R) II processor-based configurations that include hard-drives up to 8GB, fast 32x Max CD-ROM drives, 56k PCI fax/modems and the Lotus(R) SmartSuite office-productivity software package.

HP Brio PCs use only industry-standard components and meet HP's high standards for reliability to ensure customer peace of mind. The systems are DMI 2.0 certified and WfM compliant, and have built-in support capabilities such as McAfee VirusScan, PC diagnostics and Symantec's pcANYWHERE32 for remote support on models with modems.
