Tero - you used the line -- As long as GSM and TDMA are strong in USA they dictate
the pricing of CDMA phones.

This is the old hardware vs. software question.

WHO CARES what the handset costs (especially when they are all cheap and near each other in price), when the price of actually using a non-CDMA handset is SO much higher, each and every month forever?

Jon.

Tero,

Please give us a cogent argument on how you think this 3G transition will play out. Q has stated emphatically that it will not license 2 standards. What is going to happen? I think a lot of the things you say make sense, but you're conveniently ignoring this tarantula in the ointment..

Phones, all of them, are subsidized by the carriers. If the carriers are saving a lot of money on infrastructure (fewer basestations per subscriber block) then they can give away the phones. The only reason for not doing that is, I assume, the carriers want some sort of commitment from the customer.

PS I completely miss your point on the business of being in four different markets. So far it hasn't hurt them in the slightest. They have been growing revenues at more than 50% per anum for 5 years or more.
