OK---that actually made me start thinking----
You know how Ol' Blue Eyes was the generation before us---and Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye, Danny Thomas, Helen HAyes, Jessica Tandy---
Who represents the next batch of Weebles...
Whom do you associate with your own coming of age? Who represents us?
-Judy Collins, Peter, Paul and Mary, Joan Baez, the Beatles, Mick Jagger, Annette, all those pompadour-crested Frankie Avalons, Sandra Dee?
Or perhaps Harrison Ford, Goldie Hawn, Barbra Streisand, Meryl Streep, Jack Nicholson, Cher? (Sonny was one of those who fell off the side accidentally)
When I was 13 I had a HUGE crush on Van Cliburn. (Yeah, yeah I know-weird) Once at a concert in Dallas a few years ago, he smiled right at me and said Good Evening; I almost died with happiness. So when he collapsed at a performance not long ago, it was traumatic.

IT's these terrible days in the market that do this to me...I begin thinking of mortality, of temporality, of the ephemeral nature of our existence.
