Reagan was unconcerned with congressional spin. Blame for deficits was clearly affixed to democrats in his mind. His absolute belief in himself and his total focus on a manageable number of issues is what made him the greatest president of our lifetime.

But his lack of attention to detail is also responsible for the problems he had. Iran-Contra and the S&L crisis could have both been handled better had Reagan been a better beaurocrat.

Nevertheless, I take comfort in his legacy as our greatest president.
