THe New Testament events were well documented and given credability for evangelism by the Old Testament. Without the Old Testament evangelism and proof of Jesus deity would have been much more difficult. The 2 are critical in knowing Jesus fully. Does anyone ask to themselves what did He fulfill? IMO this brings us into a closer knowledge and relationship with Jesus and to the meat of the New Testament. When I read the New Testament I am always saying wow that is what He was doing and am thrilled at the confirmation that He is the I AM of Genesis as well as the King of the Jews and the Alpha and Omega of Revelation. The real offense I see is towards the covenant made with the House of Israel and the House of Judah that all nations rely on. There are many covenants in the Old Testament and IMO Jesus is still at this moment fulfilling all of them and nothing can stop that from happening. The Church is part of that fulfillment as in all the nations shall be blessed by your seed in the Abrahamic Covenant and that covenant includes the land. All the Covenants with God are said to be everlasting so to me that means the Mosaic Covenant did not completely pass away or become obsolete (until Heaven and earth pass away) it was just fulfilled in Messiah. Do not think for one minute that any of us could stand without the blood sacrifice of Jesus that stemmed from the Mosaic COvenant for our sins. Communion is Passover and is a vital remembrance of the covering we have in our perfect and blameless Lamb of God. Isaac, God will provide a Lamb. Why not ask Bob and Steve to share some of the verses that God used to open STeves eyes to Jesus and we can all grow and praise Him for His faithfullness.

Emile,
Granted what you say is true. They were eye witnesses to the events we only can read about. My point was that they were far more familiar and well versed with the old testament and used it extensively to show that Jesus was the Christ and had fulfilled all the old testament prophesies concerning the Christ. Paul quotes it a lot in his letters. It could be useful today if we knew it better, myself especially.

In Jesus,

Bob
