Hi Tom. I also pooh-pooh technical indicators such as double tops that are used to predict the market. However, IMO one should have a healthy respect for those indicators that tell you what the market is doing right now. A - D lines are one of those indicators. The technical indicators that are used to predict the market give a bad name to those technical indicators that tell us the health of the current market. FWIW the Point & Figure weekly advance / decline indicator, which is a very slow moving indicator, gave a buy signal in April of 1995 and gave a sell signal last week. This indicator does not predict the future but it does tell us that the market is very weak right now.
