Gene,>>>So what is the guidance that Intel provides?<<<

2H will be stronger than 1H. Margins will be 50%ish.

Based on that, the average per share earnings estimate of 32 analysts for 1998 earnings is $3.02.

My own prediction is that Intel will have $24.428B in sales and net income of $5.563B for the full year 1998 giving us $3.14 earnings per share. My current target price for the stock is $94.25 by year end - not that it matters all that much.

Don't you get it? It's about predicting the future. No one can do it. All you can do is get as much information as possible and then make a guess.

As an individual investor or even as an anlayst from a major brokerage, you can't get all the information that is available to Intel. All anyone can do is get a fraction of the amount of information that Intel has available to them. You have no choice but to rely on their guidance and hope that they know what they are doing. That is why I think it is more important just to look at Craig Barrett's credentials, evaluate his character, and hope that he gets a few lucky breaks, and he can do what he says he will do.

Just my opinion.
