Laura what mean LOL?

<Nathan: How are you calculating the > 100 p/e? SI shows trailing four q.'s p/e of ~ 53.> Tim, I have seen the PE for LU quoted as high as 285. I am using earnings of 84 cents which is listed on quote systems as my basis for computing > 100. If I am wrong please tell me. I would need to know to recalculate my entry point.

<Fresh blood like yours champing at the bit is why this bear is just a bull correction. That and the best economy in 50 years.> Caroline, thanks for the info on Finch not being the man running the best fund of the 80's. I do, however, resent your vicious remark as quoted above. I for one do not like to overpay for anything much less stocks. Anything wrong with that?

Don't get so comfy about a bottom being reached unless and until the PE ratio is in line with growth. This is elementary knowledge and until you focus on it, perhaps the only fresh blood the market will devour will be yours. Key is to do your homework, remain emotionally rational and consider no price a safe price unless and until. I have been reading this board when people thought 100 was a good price to pay and then 95 and so on. Now someone thinks Xmas is in August, why I ask?

Lucent at 50 is still an expensive price but worth the risk as it can increase earnings at a rapid pace but at 87, I don't think so. Ralph Accoumporo announced this morning that the market should correct 15-20% off its July levels. That may not be enough for some companies with lofty PE's .

<The room for LU to grow is certainly there. Remember, most people in the world don't even have a phone! Look at China 1, 2 billion people?
How many phones [or] Internet connections do think they have per capita?Indeed. Recently, I read (this thread?) that China is adding the equivalent of one RBOC per year!(don't know how true that is quantitatively)Also, India has only 18 million phones today;I was shocked, thinking them to be way ahead of that number...>

George you are truly misinformed and have little knowledge of how the world revolves. Those two countries need US dollars to expand and with both of their economies sinking there is little to no chance that they will invest in telecommunciations. Over a billion people combined in the two countries you mentioned care about earning enough to pay for food and shelter. In my opinion they already have all the phones they will need for the next few years.
