Nathan, cool it.

I wasn't speaking from misinformation or delusion
about the growth of India or China going forward,
or from denial about their economic problems.

I was just citing that they do represent
"room [for LU] to grow" as had been cited
(by Ishmael).

What pace that their development takes
is a big question mark.

George

<<<Nathan: How are you calculating the > 100 p/e? SI shows trailing four q.'s p/e of ~ 53.> Tim, I have seen the PE for LU quoted as high as 285. I am using earnings of 84 cents which is listed on quote systems as my basis for computing > 100. If I am wrong please tell me. I would need to know to recalculate my entry point.>>

Nathan: Click on the Lucent header at the top of this post to take you back to the thread header. Click on "Profile" and you'll see the earnings for the last 4 quarters that give a trailing p/e of ~ 54. If you calc it differently, I'd like to know how you're figuring it.

Apologies if the instructions are too elementary. Since your name indicates "trial member", I'm not sure how familiar you are w/navigating SI. ...Tim

Nathan 50.......I didn't read any vicious remarks for you to "over-react" to. You must be reacting emotionally. By the way, if you think watching TV is going to give you the insight you need to justify waiting for LU to get to $50, you better do some serious homework. Go ahead and jump in with your $50 bucks.......

Nathan ... no disrespect intended...
I read your post and didn't think about who you referenced, and then read Caroline's post which corrected the information regarding the manager of the Magellen Fund. Believe me, Peter Lynch has been one of the most highly esteemed fund managers in US history. I've read several of his books and think highly of him.

LOL means 'laughing out loud'
What I found humorous was the correction to the right spelling of the name.... I hadn't realized who you were talking about Peter until Caroline brought it to light.

I'm including a couple of web-sites links that explain acronyms that are used on the web in bulletin boards and chats. Hope you find these useful in understanding some of lingo that is posted.

Whatever entry point you decide is appropriate for you to buy LU is your decision. In the long term you will profit from any investment you make in Lucent.... they are one of the top growth companies for the next century.

I think you'll find a membership on SI, also one of the most rewarding investment you can make... The folks that post here are knowledgeable about stocks and the companies they invest in; and for the most part, very considerate of the members within the community...

Best regards
Laura

Pls do not post anything on this thread if you do not know anything at all.

In combination, China and India had more than 2 billion people. .8 billion for India,
and 1.4 billion for China ( 1.2 billion officially recorded, and about .2 billion in the mountain areas which is not recorded).

It is never be enough for the Chinese government to add new communication systems, because there are too many families and new cooperation apply for new telephone systems everyday. Motorola sell a lot of Celular phone in China.

You just put your head in the sand and never want to know the outside world, and that is dangerous.

As to the stock price, well, the stock market is made of people, the price is decided by the investors when the last trade was done. No one can tell what should be the right price for LU, and different people had different ideas. But onething I can tell is that LU will continue to grow very fast in the years to come , and of course the stock price will reflect !!!!! Just look at CSCO's earning report of today, and I think LU and CSCO are in the same market, and the market is large enough for both to grow fast for many years.
