Jane

Sounds like you had quite a chat!

One piece of your notes interested me a lot:

"The first wave is 3 channel resellers (my notes?) so GM could have complete hands on control, work out kinks and not get oversold and flounder. Second wave is through Tele-Com co's when all works perfect. 3rd is basically the Sacci advertisement campaign for the Christmas huge buying season, which they call the 4th Quarter release, and this is to bundle with whatever else is the third leg. Well thought out. No advertising is actually completely on schedule with what they hope will be a brilliant release plan. "

Let's take a quick look at that.

3 channel resellers - could you mean 1) retail, 2) corporate and 3) with 'device manufacturer' bundles here? Does that makes sense to you in context of your conversation?

Second wave with Telecom co's. Interesting this came BEFORE the 3rd wave which we know is 4Q98. Something tells me we can expect at least one Telco announcement in 3Q.

4th Quarter release - 'the dramatic event' Markman promised. Sounds great to me and I suspect this will be very much Portico v2.0 with some of the great extras in place (Web-On-Call integration for example) and a choice of magicTalk personalites.

Anyway, they sound very confident. Take a look at what I have said and please tell me if I have misread you here.

Interesting what they said about the 'memos from Markman' - so this is his way of answering the net madness.

Jane, a most impressive post! Thank you for taking the time to talk
to GM personnel. It's very much appreciated.

And Ray, you're a winner in the game of life, no matter what happened
to your financial situation in the past few days. There'll be more
opportunities later.

I have received 2 e-mail responses from Wendy as well. I like the responsiveness of their IR department.

"So, what about Motorola, I ask. Isn't it possible that it will rise to the very top again and take
GMGC with it? She said that's very interesting since they had just finalized the licensing of
StarFish. She tried to explain. I told her I was a techno dope and didn't care, was just in it for the
money, so to speak, and the main jist is that they are NOT in competition, for pete's sake.
Where did anyone get the competition thing? Her comment was that the whole voice and date
sector is growing (understatement) and that GMGC and Motorola both had visions of being very
much a part of it.

This conversation involved NO COMMENTS ON COMPETING WITH MOT. But more on the
fact that Motorola could avail itself at this point with ALL of GMGC's technology. Therefore,
things in the future could develop nicely as they once did with the Magic Cap thing that failed
miserably due to reasons I no longer remember or care to remember."

Then what IS the relationship between GMGC and Motorola. From the press releases and stuff that I have read, the two services sound very similar.

Either their competitors and GMGC is in the dark as much as we are about the whole Starfish/Motorola thing or their going to partner up on something in the future and can't talk about it.

How they can be working on the same type of service and not be competitors is just naive. It's not like there is some vast market for this service. There are only so many executives, VPs, and CEOs in the world.

Thanks for your post, Jane. I enjoy your candor and honesty, for I, too, am a "techno dope". I pick my stocks based on the soundness (and my interest of) their product, and their business practices. For example,I bought LU in part because they underwrite alot of NPR programming, I will never buy MSFT because they're arrogant jerks. GMGC has a great idea and an honest business to back it up.

I'm in for the long haul.

cheers!

Thoroughly enjoyed reading your post (your writing is top notch) and I too have talked with Wendy Carhart with the same candid results-plus she does return calls.
