Postive preview of Gangsters and Commandos...

gamecenter.com

Interesting excerpt about Commandos' success in Europe:

The European version of
Commandos was released in June in the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy,
Spain, and France, and has already sold more than 250,000 units. It has also
scored high on the retail charts, hitting the number one and two spots. In fact,
with projected European sales of half a million by year's end, Commandos is
expected to be the hottest seller in Germany and Spain for 1998. The North
American version will be released in late August with a few modifications.

Kai, I have a printed version. One of my previous posts drew heavily
from it. I'll have access to it Sunday when I return to New York. Is
there anything that you want to know from the report?

The forex effect will be marginal at best since EIDOS hedges its
positions anyway. I agree that the company needs to focus on the
day-to-day operations but it also needs to focus on +EPS in the
off season and not just Lara Croft in the Christmas season. It's
not very encouraging to see -EPS figures for Q1 and Q2. Here
are the new EPS estimates for Q1:

Goldman is now only -51 cents
Volpe Brown Wheelan -33 cents
Dresdner is -10 cents to flat
(I know this is broad for DKB
but they don't have an official
estimate. This is from the
analyst who lowered his est.
from a month or two ago.)
And First Call is -33 cents

Jeff, THQ's convertible bond offering trimmed 12% from the stock.
EIDSY's bond offering early last year caused more damage. Rumors of
the MPRS buyout surfaced earlier before THQ announced earnings and
implicitly raised the financing issue. During that time THQ also
dropped as I remember but the announcement of the offering prompted
the more painful selloff. Perhaps the same will happen to EIDOS and
we will be able to move ahead once the uncertainty and the negative
news is discounted.

Even in the case of dilution, it may be positive to test the $10
to $11 range where there seems to be some support. The key is to
lift the Psygnosis uncertainty soon so that EIDOS can focus on
positive EPS year-round. **OT** (GT Interactive up 5/8 only on
+3 cents EPS. And this with top selling games in the April-June
period. It gives me some pause. GTIS is now above $7.)
