Mark (from Bob), I admire your courage in opening yourself up publicly on the thread. Risking life and limb!! Let me first rephrase something from my post that didn't come accross well. I didn't mean that people loving their families is not a special kind of love, I meant that it is not extraordinary for people to love their families. Hitler, Pol Pot and John Gotti loved their families, even the most despicable people that have ever existed expressed love toward family. Therefore I don't consider having love for a family member anything extraordinary. I'm not going to commend somebody for loving their children, they should love their children. I take notice of love when it is expressed toward the unlovable. Now onto soul evolution. How have you personally evolved into a better person? I don't mean things like losing 20 pounds or quitting smoking, I mean deep within your soul areas like : loving those who don't love you or even hate you, putting others before you, forgiving those who have wronged you (really forgiving them in your heart), ridding yourself of racism. If we as individuals are growing spiritually (soul evolution) then globally the species should be improving. Seems logical to me. If that's the case then why do we have so much more crime. I don't mean crimes like robbing a store to buy food, I can understand that kind of crime. I mean rape; murder; parents raping their children; adults kidnapping kids, raping and killing them; kids going to school angry and killing dozens of classmates. In NJ recently some teenagers decided they wanted to kill somebody. They called a pizza parlor and requested a delivery with the intent of killing the delivery person. They succeeded. Globally the 20th century has seen more wars than any other century in history. Not just wars but genecide: Cambodia, China, Nazi Germany. We've seen ethnic cleansing at alarming rate: Bosnia, Rwanda and dozens of other places. If our souls are evolving why is the human race deteriorating. I know there are several angles that people attempt to answer this from, let me outline them to save our audience from responding them to me. Arguement #1. There isn't more crime and evil in the world, it's that it's more publicized. Hogwash, when you were a kid did you worry about the kid next to you coming to school with an automatic weapon mowing people down? I went to school in a NASTY high school and I didn't worry about it 20 years ago. My parents didn't see the drug abuse in school that I did. Arguement #2. This is Darwin evolution. More hogwash. I know Darwins theory, it calls for survival of the fittest and the evolution of a species by eliminated the weak. (As a side note, Darwin didn't even believe his own theory. He saw no proof of it and hoped that someday there would be proof. This is documented.) Question: Were the Jews in Nazi Germany the weak? Absolutely not. On an evolutionary scale, they were the higher. They were the more cerebral, they controlled business, banks ... etc. Their only problem is that they didn't control the guns. Truly this wasn't Darwins theory at work because the more evolved people were cast into ovens and the more base violent were victors. Globally we not only kill one another for no reason, but we also commit hideous crimes against one another for no other reason than sadistic pleasure. The newspapers are filled with such stories. This is not Darwinism at work. Anyway, onward I move. Sorry I got bogged down there a little. You mentioned your beliefs settle into what feels right to you. Please be very careful in that area. Our feelings are shifting sand, to base your spiritual beliefs on feeling is a very dangerous thing to do. Your beliefs will ever be changing and you will never find a spiritual home that will last. I would rather stand on a solid foundation (the Bible) for two reasons: 1. It's been proven to be accurate historically, prophetically and scientifically and it's effective in changing me. 2. My feelings often change and to have my hope pinned on them would not afford me peace and stability. I'm not preaching to you, I only want you to have what I have. Sincerly, Bob
