Good morning Bob, Okay, lets start:-) A minor point. Love for your family is extraordinary. Wherever and whenever love occurs it is special and wonderful. No one type of love is "better" or more highly regarded, IMO. Weather or not someone should love their kids, it doesnt always happen. Even if it did always happen, it wouldnt take way from the "specialness", or make it more ordinary. Evolution is a subjective word and leaves a murky path. The reason I say that is the path is full of subjective terms and deeds, therefore it is very hard ot quantify. It is like quantifying how religious or spiritual you are. Reitierating how many bible passages you have read or prayers you have said doesnt really fully express and comminicate how much true growth you have really experienced. Try to describe that in language, and it becomes somewhat murky. It is difficult to do. As for myself, I try to measure it in terms of my priorites, the direction I try to take myself and lead my family, and the actions and intentions of my daily life. Some days are better than others, and sometimes I backslide. However, every day is an opportunity for growth, the question is wheather or not one takes advantage of those opportunites. As far as the state of the world and the level of growth within it... I disagree that we dont have growth. I think you are looking at too narrow of a picture. The reason I say this is this. When looking at something as massive as world growth and evolution, you cant look at it in terms of day to day, year to year or even generation to generation. Time on that scale should be more in the context of old growth trees or even mountains. It moves more slowly, IMO. Ithink it is more apprrproiate and cler to look at eras. Do we still have a serf system? The amount of abuse that most of the world undergoes is much less these days than in earlier times. We have made great strides in the rights for all people and sexes. We understand, if not practice, that all people should have equal opportunities and should be treated with dignity. That has not always been the case. the world is outraged at the prospects of apartheid and successfully brought that ot a close. That is fairly recent in terms of time within the scope of humanity. Over the history of mankind, there has been tremendous growth and enlightenment. that is not to say that humanity, much like the rest of us, cant backslide, but it should be viewed within a different timeframe. Beliefs and personal feelings....... Yes, my own feelings change, and sometimes my beliefs change with them. From your perspective, that is a dnagerous thing, if not a bad thing. From my perspective change is neither good or bad. The results of change can be postive or negative depending on the actions undertaken, but change itself is neutral so to speak. Without change, their cant be progress or growth. I dont expect to feel or believe the same things at 10 or 30 as I do at 50 or 80. For me, in my life, change has been a wonderful thing and it has afforded me great peace and stability, much as the Bible has done for you. I hope that you relaize that my comments are aimed at detracting from your or debunking your beliefs. I wouldnt even attempt to do such a thing. They are only aimed at explaining my own beliefs. Mark
