Mark (from Bob),

I'm going to work backwards here. I don't think change in itself is a bad thing, I welcome change because I certainly need to change to become what I want to be. I'm saying that basing spiritual beliefs on feelings is a bad thing. Simply because we have bad days or periods in our lives emotionally. Of this I speak from experience. If our beliefs change based on our feelings rather than facts we are opening ourselves up for trouble.

<<When looking at something as massive as world growth and evolution, you cant look at it in terms of day to day, year to year or even generation to generation. Time on that scale should be more in the context of old growth trees or even mountains. It moves more slowly, IMO. Ithink it is more apprrproiate and cler to look at eras. Do we still have a serf system? The amount of abuse that most of the world undergoes is much less these days than in earlier times.>>

I am looking at the world in terms of thousands of years. You mentioned a couple of examples (ie. removal of serf system, end of aparthied in S. Africa), it's true these are good things but when weighed against the bad acts they are greatly outnumbered. How often do we see starving people that are not fed! IMO your statement that the amount of abuse in the world is less now than in earlier times is not based on fact. There are tremendous abuses in the world in what we deem civilized societies. Statistics tell me that you do not agree with partial birth abortions. In our country we have mothers literally destroying their fully developed children shortly before they take their first breath. That is abuse beyond what I can comprehend, a mother agreeing to having their own childs skull penetrated to bring death.

I cannot change your opinions but am truly interested in them. I'll speak to you soon.

Sincerely,

Bob
