Given that, if MTEI never opens again, and is essentially gonzo, what happens to the short position of anyone who was shorting the stock? Canadian or otherwise.

Obviously a trading suspension would not be in the interest of any short, at least in the, um, short term. We've seen what happened with MINE. Trading reopened, shorts were "forced" to cover (actually they were just dumb; shoulda stuck it out), and then the stock tanked once again.

Were I actually short MTEI right now, I really wouldn't be happy about it. Woulda wished I'd got out--long OR short--before the halt.

Trading suspensions profit no one. Which is why the SEC is so very chary of taking such an extreme measure.
