Although, I have not liked Slick from day one I have to believe that the collective wisdom of the American people in electing and reelecting him is greater than mine.Having said that, what I can not stand is the hypocrisy of his supporters. Everyone keeps saying sex doesn't matter. It matters to people in their own lives. How can you not laugh when a tearful speech on "family values" is delivered by Slick? The irony of all of this is that Slick is turning out to be the entity that puts the stake through the heart of the post watergate democratic party, The democrats have maintained their credibility and their influence through the 1974 post watergate reforms that they helped to shepherd through the Congress. Now they are faced with the worst test of these reforms that they have had to endure since then. If they let Slick slide here they will sacrifice a great deal of the legitimacy that has been attributed to them in the modern era. Don't think they don't know this. Also, the democrats are desperately trying to get to a majority in congress so they can wipe out the campaign finance scandal of 1996. They need Slick since no one can mint the money like him.The democratic party is in decline and much of what we are seeing is the thrashing about of a dinosaur in its death throes. The party is devoid of ideas and they can only offer further redistribution and taxation of wealth. It is interesting that no democrat has come out in front and openly said that Slick must go. GM was willing to endure near extinction this time(a la International Harvester) rather than cave in to the unions this time. The downfall of Slick and the democrats will be from formats exactly like Silicon Investor and others that can not be censored and shut up. CNN is still reeling from the hatchet job done on it by vets using the net(and rightfully so)with regard to "OPERATION TAILWIND". There will be lots more of this type of stuff in the future. As more and more of the population becomes computer literate the kind of garbage that we have seen in the White House will be less and less possible. I think the high approval ratings reflect a fear of changing the balance of power between Slick and the Republicans rather that an endorsement of this fake.
