Ambulances with wenches? Those are the ones I want to come home from the hospital in. Oh, shoot, you said winches. I read a very tragic story once which happened as I recall around 1970-1. A woman died from suffocation. She developed the flu, and because she weighed 650 pounds had great difficulty breathing with the resulting upper respiratory involvement. The fire department was called as the ambulance stretcher couldn't hold her. They had to chain saw the door openings to cut an exitway large enough to get her out of the house. They carried her out on a door and they had to take her away on a flat bed truck as they couldn't get her in the ambulance. She died before she reached the hospital.
