Great post Jay, thanks. I think you kind of sum it up...for the short term. I'm still betting things will stabilize (they always do at some level) soon in this fast moving market and TBR will start to achieve a proper valuation. Long term, how can you lose. I like the thought of throwing a thousand shares into an account and check it out in 5 years...just not worrying about it. Seems like a no-brainer.

Looks like one may have to wait for these businesses to start coming through with large earnings increases for anyone to appreciate the story.

CVRD, which was privatized last year, announced a 107% increase in first half '98 earnings over first half '99. While CVRD apparently was not directly hurt by weak commodity prices due to forward contracts in place, this was not exactly a high growth type of business either.

TEF stated that they expect a quadrupling of earnings of Telesp and Tele Sudeste Cellular by 2002.

It's still early, but I'm thinking in terms of $27-$35 of composite earnings by 2002. Sure, anything can happen, but I don't feel that such numbers are a pipe dream, based upon everything I've read.

I always thought that one needed just be around when everyone else figured out that lots of earnings were forthcoming in order to make money as a shareholder. Looks like I'm going to be around while the earnings actually come in with this issue(s).
