Thanks a million for that post. I just downloaded, installed and adjusted my MTU setting to 576 and you are right. Just another reason to dislike Billy Gates and his methods. I encourage everyone to give it a go and spread the word. Bean

I read that article months ago and followed the advice of the article, yet saw no real increase of speed. The "problem" was fixed for Windows 98, or at least that's what I remember reading. Just bought a new computer with Windows 98. Windows 98 has some interesting things, but it looks and feels like Windows 95 except for the integrated browser effect.

RS- Be very careful of the MTU value. Any change below 1499 can cause your man gland to fall off. They don't mention this in the PC World article because most of the editors are nerds and they fear litigation by showing they have fore knowledge of this problem. Something to do with a very low frequency emission from one of the microcircuit chips in laptops induces a sympathetic resonance of the connective tissue fascia. A lot like scurvy caused sailors teeth to fall out in the days of Columbus for lack of Vitamin C. This is the high tech. equivalent. Placing a lead shield over your crotch may help but carries potential dangers itself. I hope this message gets to you in time. (:0)!!! Thanks for the info. Anything to save time is appreciated.
