Gus you come up with information sometimes that makes me feel as if I am talking with an encyclopedia! Not only have you taught me to do better research but also showed me how to compare the info against competitors.

And, your questions are deep due to your experience.

Gus, how I can get that kind of due diligance (encyclopidia) info necessary from previous years on AMPEX. Yes, I have read your posts and Jubimer's posts and read 96 97 annual reports, 10q's word for word. Is there a "place" we can go and get the data from 91 thru 95?

Yes, my face is very flush, red and the sweat is rolling down my back. My lack of experience and "extensive" due diligance relating to the years 91, 92, 93, 94, 95 is an OOPS!

REGRET - I relied on information from third parties. Did not personally look for, seek, the years 91 thur 95. "KM" is powerful, sales of it have to be made. In deep, "Cousin Eddie"'s quiet, closed mouth, approaches are my water torture.

FACT - "Cousin Eddie"'s complete honesty, dedication and brilliance is my saving grace in this long term investment. AMPEX's technology and products and customers are excellant.

HOPE - Sales in new markets. And, others can learn from (Boy Scout) my flush face, sweat rolling down my back, not having 5 years of due diligance on an investment. Their new strategy of digital image companies works positively and sales and revenues grow.

Thanks for your information and support on this one.

Charles

Curious here about that too, Gus. Also noticed, in the most recent J&R catalogue, that Sony is now selling a digital VCR. Have read a couple articles speculating that a digital tape format. rather than recordable DVDs, is likely to eventually replace the existing base of video recorders...though obviously that would take quite some time. Speculating that AXC has some royalty involvement in that.

gus,

will answer shortly....just a note...Russell 2000 theory is borne out...Vanguard Small Cap index sold 168,000 shares in June leaves 227,000 to sell....

this persistant selling of Ampex and many many other small cap stocks reminds of 1989-1990's junk bond market..then you had government mandate federally and at the state level dictating the sale of junk bonds by thrifts, s and l's and insurance companies, creating a severe liquidity crunch and price declines...Buyers at the time made fortunes, such as Leon Black who bought Executive Life's junk bond portfolio and Icahn etc etc.

We don't have goverment mandates forcing the sale of small cap but we have a de facto forced liquidation by the herd which permits only the purchase of very liquid, large cap stocks. Money managers can't afford to own these right now.....

As in the junk bond markets, the buyers will be

1. The natural best buyer is the Companies themselves..Back then they bought in their own debt at deep discounts to the face value, boosting equity value...here its the reverse,,borrow cheap money and buy in equity at 4-5 times earnings.

2. Acquisitions by other companies...back then companies bought bonds and swapped for control equity...here plain old buy 4-5 times eps stock with cash or swap your own 25 times eps paper.

Gus,

From 1992 10k....
"The substantial increase in royalties from 1990 to 1991 resulted from the settlement of patent litigation and from other negogiated settlements related to sales of products by licensees in the past, as well as the prepayment of minimum level of royalty for future periods..."

It is my belief from my rembrance of the NHI Reorg document that the prepayments were through 1998, so that beginning 1999 Ampex should start receiving full payments..
