Mark (from Bob),

The issue is not slavery but humanity as a whole. In this nation, people have placed a higher value on material things than their own children. IE. The dual income family that is striving for a bigger house, BMW, better vacations ... etc. You are looking at physical attrocities, many of those physical atrocities have been replaced by these cerebral atrocities. The breakdown of the family (ie. divorce, adultery .. etc) is a function of selfishness and nothing else. The I don't feel like being married anymore attitude or I've grown out of this marriage. The civilized nations of the world have replaced slavery with even more vile practices. Contrary to popular belief not all slaves were mistreated or unhappy, in our country many slaves remained with their masters after the Civil War. We've placed money ahead of values, children and even God. We destroy unborn children because they aren't convenient. You must think in this perspective when analyzing sociologic evolution. It is not simply attrocious physical behavior. When people become more self centered (which they are) there cannot be a move forward by society, only giant leaps backwards.
