Stitch, [edited] It's just I never see any LS-120. Must we have a floppy replacement? iMac comes without one. But if we must I vote for ZIP. Price is dropping rapidly already.

I wonder, though, how profitable 1.44MB floppy drives are for
the manufacturer? They sell for about $15 [WAG] wholesale.

BTW, Porter saw floppies leveling off by 2000 - not dying out.

Stitch, One day you tell me the drive industry is improving, the next stocks are up 15%. Someone big must be reading your posts! How familiar are you with Syquest? Their stock price under one says they're going out of business but with decent revenues and the kind of expense cuts they have announced, is there hope? As I recall, last time I looked at Syquest, potential share dilution was a major problem. Perhaps this is less of an issue from current price levels. By the way, are you familiar with the Webs which trade on the American Exchange which track the Malaysian market? (Symbol EWM). Great way for us to play youtr market. Do you see a bottom in sight anytime soon? Best of luck, Z

Can there really be shortages of 3 to 4 GB drives? As in allocation? Seems inconceivable after a slew of quarterly conference calls where everyone said the desktop channel was glutted. And 3 to 4 gig must now be the heart of the market.
