Joan,

Is HK really cutting taxes? They already have the lowest tax rate in the universe.

Their interest rates are going up due to attacks against the currency, which in turn is slamming the stock market. I posted around Christmas that I think the peg will go this year. I am sticking with that opinion. However, some say there are significant events to come this year which will put it off until 99. We will see.

Raising interest rates is killing its hype real estate market which was analogous to Japan in the late 80s. Will the collapse of their real estate also increases the bank's bad debt? Will it result in the same situation as Japan - banking crisis?
