McGinn (LU CEO) just interviewed on CNBC. Asked about ASND acquisition of SRA. Said it was an "astute" and "very good" move especially given spin-off of other assets. He said SRA had "hidden jewel" of SS7 and fault tolerant switching.

Asked twice about acquisitions after 10/1/98. He basically evaded the question, but said they would do so where it was strategic and financially sound.

Asked about consolidation of carriers. He said new competitors needed to make substantial investments to sustain competitiveness and it was "good for us" [and ASND]. He specificially mentioned QWST and LVLT as new, dynamic companies [and ASND customers that LU would love to have a closer relationship with].

Asked about competition with CSCO and rise of IP. McGinn said companies need competency across protocols and that IP was important but not the only solution.

P.S. I'm gone today at The Money Show investment conference. Have a great trading day everyone.
