Any thoughts on the following (Picked up from the Yahoo board).

Ericsson top management now publicly opposes Swedish socialist government to "financially support a new Atmel/Temic billion dollar fab in Sweden". The government can not annoy Ericsson, the biggest exporting company in Sweden. The idea of a new Atmel fab in Sweden is therefor dead (if anyone except the Swedish socialists believed in it)

But this could also mean that Ericsson will use other suppliers than Temic/Atmel. Atmel has certainly not been succesful in convincing Ericsson top management about Atmel having better products. Swedish government contributions to Atmel would in such a case also have strengthened Ericssons position, and Ericsson would not have publicly announced its negative opinion to a new Atmel fab in Sweden according to my sources.

Since Ericson and Nokia often uses same standards, could this mean that Atmel will fail to penetrate the European market and that the Temic aquisition will be an expensive mistake? Could such information among big investors explain the drop from 40 to 10 in stock value?
