Mostly the lawyers who would "lay across train tracks for Bubba" are plaintiff's trial lawyers and their ilk (such as Nader). They're a small minority of lawyers overall, but the successful ones have a lot of money and are more dependent than most lawyers on a favorable political climate (e.g. defeat of any tort reform, continuation of punitive damages, etc.) to continue to amass their wealth, so they tend to be the most politically active lawyers. (Also, law school faculty who don't have to deal with real people and real law, but teach only theory, tend to be liberal and strong Democratic supporters. Because they have lots of time and access to the media, they too tend to be heard and seen far beyond their numbers.) From his postings I would assume, though I could be wrong, that jlallen is not a plaintiff's lawyer or a law school faculty member.
