I was reading on the CYRIX discussion board that a significant hurdle that CYRIX was not able to overcome
was that of "perceived" CPU speed based on CPU clock cycles. Cyrix new that their lower cycle CPU's were
faster than Intel's higher cycles CPU's - consumers would look at the 150 megahertz Cyrix offering and
comparrison shop to the Intel 166's and purchase on the assumption that the 166 was faster - not the real-life
case.

Apple needs to address similar issues if they they want to leverage the performance advantages of the PPC. It
seems to me that the best way to do this is with very LARGE (in you face) posters at retail locations showing
speed comparisons between the various chips with price performance comparisons with the Intel world.

This chart needs to do a good job comparing RISK to CISC technologies.

This chart also needs to address "cost of ownership" issues.

This chart also needs "endorsements" (granted or IMPLIED) from big name (Buzz word) companies ie.
Netscape / Adobe / Oracle / NASA / also drop names of web objects users using Apple technologies, etc. etc.
and use selective Bill Gate's quote's from the Apple/Microsoft deal. Look at the CPU/PR leverage that
Compaq gets from Alpha and Sun gets from Java.

Lots of "stuff" on this chart but it would be a very effective sales tool for "turning" Windows/Intel shoppers.
Also - I am sure that this poster would answer the first half dozen questions that any sales person would
encounter from a potential customer.

Apple also needs to do a bundle deal with MSOffice - I suspect that MS dug its heals in on this one.... but it
seems that if MS is allowing this on the Intel side of the fence then Apple can compel the same deal for PPC
versions. With the Justice stuff going on - MS will not argue too loud. Heck - Apple did the MS deal last year
for this very reason.

Where possible, Apple branded software (bundled) should have two licenses 1) MacOS and 2) Wintel
version.

Food for thought.
