It looks like Les reversed his personal philosophy on merit- I guess if I was Les Alberthal, I would take the board's offer to get out of the way with the financial incentive to do so. After 30 years, he deserves something and his departure gifts are a fraction of what some tina silicon valley startup CEO earn in stock options. So its a cost of doing business I guess, but I have a big personal problem eating my heart out. Here was a guy who stated during one of the conference calls a couple of quarters back that there would be no executive bonuses because the targets were missed. Pay for performance was Les's motto and here we are. I guess its the cost of doing business. I keep repeating this phrase but my problem does not go away. It just doesn't sit right but I am still long on EDS because of its people and traditions (those that are still left).
