<<< I'm interesting in buying Dell but somewhat reluctant to get in at this level. What is your thought on Dell? Should I jump in before earnings announcement?>>>
There is no better time to buy Dell. A run-up to excellent earnings is expected by most, and that expectation alone will reinforce the move. A stock split is also expected, and would (more likely than not) be announced along with earnings, but if that is not the case there is still a great chance of having a split
by years end as the stock price has exceeded the (usual) price at which splits are announced.
The Dow and Nasdaq and Dell are way down off their peaks,so they now have a better chance of stabilizing or recovering and you can buy Dell $10 off its peak.

Dell is in the midst of major expansion projects in Austin,
China, and possibly later Brazil, with sales growth running at 5 times the industry average.
Demand for computers to replace those that are not year2000
compliant will begin to increase rapidly, since the problem
must be solved (in most cases) 90 days before the actual date.
In order to get systems up and running by then, companies will
have to make choices, place orders, and schedule activity shutdowns
(if needed)within the next 12 months.
From your past posts, you seem to have excellent timing in selling Dell and therefore confidence in getting out, in the rare event that seems the thing to do.
BTW Did you 'see' that last October tanking coming, or was it merely that Dell seemed to have reached a peak??
Good luck-try not to miss next years party!!
Sig

Yes, I would buy in here. IMO, Dell will surprise the street and come in with $.50 in earnings. I think we can look forward to several years of 50% + per annum growth in earnings, a rapid withdrawal of competitors like Micron from Dell's market and a slow withdrawal of competitors such as IBM and HWP from the corporate desktop market. Competition in servers is just beginning to heat up as Dell ramps up efforts in that direction. Look for Compaq to be on the defensive in this arena. Also look for Compaq to continue to migrate its efforts to being more like IBM. I expect that within two years Dell will displace Compaq as the #1 computer manufacturer.

Adrew, all I can say is that everytime I told someone that I thought DELL was too pricey to buy, I was proven wrong by the market. For that reason, I won't tell you not to buy. It is more expensive than it has been, but that doesn't mean it will get cheaper.

I'm glad I own a bunch already.
