To all:

The Dell and Compaq TV ads over the past few days mention that the computers they are featuring in their ads have Zip drives installed.

Does anybody know who the top five PC sellers are in order of PC's sold?

<< The argument was "sub-1000 dollar computers will never be able to include Zip drives because they will use small cases which have no room for additional storage." >>

NO! NO! NO!! This was never, ever my argument. My argument was this,
(as you put in your post)

<< Not surprisingly, none of them includes a
Zip drive, since in this category price is everything. >>

THIS was my argument. Fact is, (like you say) PC vendors cannot
afford to include the ZIP. They would be giving away their entire
gross margins...They make about $50 on these PCs. (after all is said and done..)

<< That means a user could add an internal Zip and still not be spending more than a thousand bucks. >>

But remember, Iomega is de-focusing on the aftermarket. They are concentrating on OEMs going forward. Plus, adding this device is an 'extra step', one that will be 'forgotten' by 90%+ of the buyers of these cheap PCs. They just go to price club and stick the box in the cart.

<< That's one more bear argument which was based solely on supposition, now proven false by actual events. >>

Nope, you just misunderstood the argument. Your post SUPPORTS
the real argument. 'ACTUAL EVENTS' still show that no ZIP is standard in the low-end PC market (where the chunk of the volume is).
