Good morning freeus.

It seems to me that Dell's thrust into the "enterprise space" [by that I mean servers] is relatively recent, and it will take a bit of time to sort things out. I don't follow these things to the extent that Rudedog does, so I really can't comment on the facts as he presents them. I will point out, however, that his view seems to me to be more static than mine. That is, I view the future as I perceive events to be unfolding, whereas he seems (to me at least) to maintain a more fixed view. So I see Dell beginning to flex its muscles in this marketplace. I suspect that Dell will be able to use its growing dominance in desktops as a springboard for dominance in servers. I am unaware of any connection between Microsoft and Compaq, so I will not comment on that other than to point out that linkages are fragile things.

I will point out that each satisfied customer is an unpaid salesman for the product, and judging by customer satisfaction polls, Dell has a much larger cadre of unpaid salesmen.

TTFN,
CTC
