Michelle - At the hardware level, Dell has excellent offerings in both the server and workstation space and they have gotten high marks for enterprise level service on these machines (in terms of break-fix support). There are no technical barriers to their entry, it is really a business decision - do they go for maximization of the space they can hit with their current business practice, or do they move up the food chain? It is not at all obvious that changing their infrastructure to hit higher up is a smart move. This is not a simple issue and I sure don't know what the right answer is for Dell.
